Kandersteg Adventure 2025

Date: 1st Sep 2025 Author: Scout Websites

Summer 2025 was a big one for Christ Church Darley Scouts. After 2 years of planning and fundraising we finally headed off to Kandersteg International Scout Centre (KISC), Switzerland.

From 1st to 10th August 2025, 20 scouters made up of 13 scouts, 3 members of our new explorers unit and 4 adult volunteers had 10 days of adventure in the Swiss Alps. Whilst at KISC our adventurers went on high ropes courses, flew along zip lines, swam in a glacial lake, rode toboggans down mountains and walked across a glacier.

They hiked up to and spent a night in the Gfellalp alpine hut, 1847m above sea level with Falcon Scott Explorers getting the opportunity to climb even higher and walk across the Lotschen Glacier at 2497m above sea level.

Between all this adventure there was still time to get the train to Bern and the medieval town as well as go on a bear hunt, no bears (or scouts) were harmed. The young people got fully involved in the jamboree spirit at Kandersteg taking part in badge swaps, trying national dishes, learning the promise and law in other languages and creating new handshakes with their international friends from Spain, Portugal, Japan, Canada and more. They then finished the week off with the Kandersteg International Camp fire. The biggest, and LOUDEST, campfire we’ve ever been to.

All who attended young, and slightly older, had an absolutely amazing experience that they will never forget. CCD would like to extend our thanks too all the volunteers that allowed this event to happen, those who attended and supported our fundraising events and those that provided donations. These events are not cheap and we can not keep them accessible to all our young people without this support.
